“My journey into motherhood wasn't straightforward. I got pregnant quickly the first time, but we lost the baby at eight weeks, and later went through six months of fertility treatment before I fell pregnant naturally. I lost my own mother when I was twelve. For a long time I wondered if I d know how to do this without her.

But motherhood changed everything for me. Life stopped revolving around my own needs and started revolving around hers. It taught me there's no one right way to be a mother - children don't need perfection, they need love, safety, honesty, and presence.“

“What I love most is simply spending time with my daughter and experiencing life together with her - making her laugh, comforting her, feeling like we're navigating the days side by side. There's something incredibly special about seeing the world through her eyes and noticing joy in even the smallest moments.

Motherhood has also softened me in some ways while making me stronger in others. It's made life feel both more vulnerable and more meaningful at the same time.“

“The hardest part is how constantly changing and unpredictable motherhood is. Just when you ve figured something out, everything changes again.

Motherhood also comes with so many expectations about what a good mother should look like. For a while I questioned whether I was still allowed to care about personal style, wellness, beautiful interiors, or time for myself. But I've learned that taking care of yourself and creating a home you love doesn't make you less present as a mother - if anything, it helps me feel more grounded and balanced. In many ways, motherhood has taught me that women are allowed to exist as whole people too.“

“I really miss the freedom of being completely spontaneous - lying on the couch watching TV for hours without worrying about anything, or deciding last-minute to go somewhere. Life was simpler before children.

But I could never imagine my life without the closeness, love, and sense of purpose motherhood has brought me. Even on the hardest days, there's something incredibly grounding about being needed by someone you love that deeply.“

“Taking small moments for myself makes me a better mother, so I protect them where I can - an afternoon walk alone with Willy, a yoga class and recharge. My mom-friends matter just as much whether it s mother-baby reformer classes, coffee dates, or simply being honest about motherhood together.

Our home plays a part too. When our surroundings feel calm, warm, and put together, I feel more like myself and she gets more of me.“

“How emotional it is in every possible way. The love is so much bigger than I ever imagined - but so is the vulnerability. I didn't expect to feel this deeply connected to another human being.

I've also been surprised by how much motherhood has forced me to reflect on my own childhood, my relationship with my mother, and the kind of parent I want to be myself.“

“We love being social and inviting friends over - now just with a little one running around as part of the evening. Creating a home filled with people, food, wine, and conversation feels very natural to us.

My husband loves cooking, so we spend a lot of time together in the kitchen while our daughter watches everything happening around her. We also love long walks.“
