A Look inside Josefine's Home

Life with three children means colour, creativity, and a little bit of mess. In their Nørrebro apartment, interior designer Josefine Hedemann has created a home where play, art, and everyday family rituals set the tone.

Why did you choose your home, and how does it reflect your family life today?

"We live close to the city and love it very much. Being able to cycle to work and having life, energy, and the people we love right around us means a lot to us."

How has your interior style changed since becoming a mother?

"Our home is now filled with kids. They play in the living room and kitchen just as much as in their own rooms, and there is always space for my creative activities too.

There are drawings and paintings everywhere, and the way the children use colours inspires me greatly in my work and colour universe."

“We clean up every evening once the children are asleep, so each new day can begin with calm surroundings.”

How do you balance creating a tidy home while embracing everyday mess with kids?

"Everything is stored in baskets and boxes and has its own place. Every evening, once the children are in bed, we tidy up so a new day can begin with calm surroundings."

What small design choices have made your home feel both family friendly and personal?

"I work as an interior designer, helping people create more personal and colourful homes. Alongside this, I work as an art director on photo shoots and campaigns for lifestyle brands.

At home, this creative background shows most clearly through the artwork on our walls. It makes our home feel both personal and family-friendly, reflecting our everyday life and the inspiration I gather from both my work and family life."

What are your thoughts on decorating your child’s room, and how did you choose colors, furniture and style?

"Playful and personal. The girls chose the colours for the textiles, curtains, and windowsills. At first, I was thinking “no” — but now I love the colour combinations."

Which family routines or habits make your house feel most like “home”?

"Our slow morning routines make the house feel most like home. We take our time with breakfast, light candles, and play quiet music. It sets a calm tone for the day and gives us a peaceful moment together before everything starts moving."

Name one piece of furniture or decor you value highly and share the story behind it.

"My big plant in the kitchen window is the interior piece I treasure the most. I’ve had it for more than 20 years, and it has followed me through different life phases, making it a quiet but meaningful part of our everyday life."

Which three Nofred Products are your favorites and how do you use them in your home?

"My favourite Nofred products are the storage solutions — especially the different boxes. Having practical storage makes it easier to tidy up and ensures everything has its own place, without compromising on aesthetics. Another favourite is the Notice Board, which we use to display children’s art, making it a natural part of our home."
